Pennywise Breadcrumbs

We use breadcrumbs a lot and have started making our own, its so easy that I can’t believe we didn’t start earlier!

Any leftover bits of bread and roll and put into the food processor and chopped into the right sized bits.

Then they are all put into a food bag in the freezer ready for when we need them. Easy as that!

Does anyone else do this or thinking of doing this?

Home Grown Peas!

We are lucky to have a small vegetable patch in our back garden so we try to make the most of it. Due to having a new baby we haven’t managed to do a lot with it this year however the Pea seeds that we planted in May have grown beautifully and we are now starting to harvest them. So the first lot have been shelled, washed and frozen ready to be used over the next few months. I have to admit that we did eat a few and they are delicious 🙂

Pennywise Cleaning Cloths

Since we are trying to reduce our waste and consumption I decided to try and “recycle” an old cotton bed sheet into some cloths that we can use for polishing the car and other jobs around the house and garden.

The sheet!

Image

I cut it up really roughly, Im not needing the cloths to be an exact size or shape!

I then ran round the edges with the sewing machine to stop the edges fraying.

Some of the finished cloths

I got around 20 cloths out of 1 single bed sheet that had been lying around in the garage! These will be put to good use 🙂

Let’s go fly a kite

It’s very windy here so I thought I’d let Hamish fly a kite for the first time. I got the kite out and he broke it after 5 minutes! So we made an “Emergency” kite out of a plastic bag and wool! He loved flying it in the back garden, an Hours entertainment and he didn’t seem to notice it was a plastic bag 🙂 he does however have to work on the holding on lol – would definitely recommend it!

Road Tax Month

Well August has arrived and our Road Tax (£165) is due to be paid at the end of the month. I blogged a while ago about having a Post Office card that I use to save for this expense. Im please that we now have £170 on the card so can pay the road tax without having to use other savings or a credit card as we might have in the not to distant past 🙂
